Burkburnett
RV Park is located near the Red River on the NE side of Burkburnett, Texas. We are just 12 miles NE of Wichita Falls, Texas on
I-44 / US 281 at exit 14.
The town was named after
the colorful westerner, Burk Burnett, who settled this area and owned the
famous 6666 Ranch of the time. He then sold the acreage to a group of
investors for a town site. During a
hunting trip with Teddy Roosevelt, the President recommended that the town be
named after his hunting host Burk Burnett.
Hence the town was named Burkburnett. Then around 1917 they found oil
and the sleepy town grew overnight to over 60,000 people and earned the
nickname of “BOOMTOWN USA”.
Millionaires were made overnight and thousands came to try their luck
in finding oil.
We
invite you to stay with us, be it for a day, week or longer, and we promise
you a wonderful and relaxing time.
